Celebrating 10 Years of Impact
As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, I had the opportunity to sit down over coffee with Monik, our Founder and Principal, at the beautiful Bean & Bottle in the Memorial City area of Houston, Texas.
What started as a casual conversation quickly turned into something much deeper. We talked about the NW Safety story, where it all began, where we are today, and where we’re headed next. Between sips of coffee and moments of reflection, it became clear that this journey has been fueled by faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to people.
It was powerful. It was inspiring. And it’s a story worth telling. Here’s Monik, in her own words.
Life doesn’t always go as planned. For Monik and Johan, a curveball became the spark that launched NW Safety. “There was no Plan B,” Monik recalls. “It was all or nothing.” What began as a leap of faith has grown into a decade-long journey defined by dedication, faith, and a team united in purpose.
Monik gives all the credit to God for guiding every step, aligning clients, opportunities, and, most importantly, every team member who has joined along the way. She marvels at how each person contributes uniquely to the NW Safety family, shaping the company’s culture and impact. “It’s been a beautiful journey,” she reflects.
Even though NW Safety is celebrating 10 years, Monik notes that the company’s growth in systems and processes has really accelerated over the last three. “It wasn’t until February 2023 that I saw something special, and I realized it was time to scale,” she shares. “Our goal has always been simple: if we can make an impact on even one life, then everything we do is worth it.”
Where We Are Now
Monik takes pride in the team culture at NW Safety, where providing value every day is the ultimate focus. “I always say, ‘Focus on bringing the value, and the money will chase you,’” she explains. She compares it to chasing butterflies: “If you chase them, you’ll never catch them. But if you create a garden that attracts them, they’ll come to you.”
This philosophy shapes how the team approaches every job site, every client interaction, and every challenge. “It’s beautiful to watch our team embrace this mindset and see the benefits unfold,” Monik adds.
Looking Ahead: The Vision
The next decade, Monik envisions, will be about growth, on a global scale. “We’re just getting started,” she says. “Our team will continue to grow, and our impact will continue to expand. Right now, we’re still building the foundation, much like a skyscraper. The larger the building, the longer the foundation phase, but we’ve built an amazing one. Now, it’s time to put up the walls and reach new heights.”
Words of Encouragement
Finally, Monik reflects on the team’s dedication and resilience. “Seeing our team members stay consistent, show up, and grow with us is the greatest compliment we could ever receive. They choose NW Safety, even when other opportunities arise, and that humbles me.”
She encourages everyone to continue their journey of excellence. “Growth never stops. From good to great, great to best, best is not a destination, it’s a state of evolution. There’s always a more efficient, better way to do things. I want our team to keep striving, keep improving, and know we’re fortunate to have each of them on this journey with us.”
From the Leadership Team at NW Safety
Thank you to every team member, client, and partner who has been part of this journey. Your trust, dedication, and belief in our mission are what made the last ten years possible.
Here’s to the foundation we’ve built, the impact we’ve made, and the future ahead.
Cheers to 10 years, and to many more to come!
Many Stories. One Culture.
The Stories That Built NW Safety.
As part of our 10-year anniversary, we didn’t just want to tell one story, we wanted to highlight the voices that make NW Safety what it is today. While every journey is unique, a common thread runs through each one: trust, growth, and people-first leadership.
Over the past few weeks, we sat down with several members of our team to hear their stories, how they found NW Safety, what made them stay, and what this journey has meant to them.
Nate Garza, Safety Professional, joined NW Safety through a mutual connection and a conversation with Johan, our Senior Safety Consultant. What was originally meant to be a short-term project quickly turned into a four-year journey. Nate’s story is a powerful reminder that when people are supported, challenged, and genuinely valued, they don’t just stay, they grow.
Deidre Sims, Safety Professional, also came to NW Safety through a mutual relationship. For her, finding a company that aligned with her core values made all the difference. Her story reflects the heart of our culture, where people matter, values guide decisions, and teamwork defines success.
And then there’s Stephanie Kingham, Office Manager, who has witnessed the growth of NW Safety in real time. Returning to the workforce after six years as a full-time mom takes courage. Stepping into an entirely new industry takes trust. Stephanie did both, and in the process, helped NW Safety grow stronger behind the scenes every step of the way.
These stories, along with many others, are living proof that NW Safety is more than a workplace. It’s a team built on relationships, opportunity, and a shared commitment to excellence.
Cheers to 10 years, and to many more to come!
New Year, Better You
APWC Event Recap
The Association of Professional Women in Construction (APWC), kicked off the year with an inspiring New Year, Better You event that brought together women in construction for connection, reflection, and real talk about growth.
The room was filled with energy, laughter, and meaningful conversations as attendees engaged with one another, took professional portraits, and absorbed insights from powerhouse speakers. The atmosphere balanced celebration with intention, a perfect tone for starting the year with clarity and purpose.
A highlight of the event was guest speaker Angela Taylor, who led a thought-provoking discussion on “Priorities — Work. Life. Fit.” She challenged attendees to consider what truly matters in this season of life, and in the next five years, rather than simply trying to “do it all.” Angela encouraged women to be intentional about how they spend their time, where they invest their energy, and how they define success for themselves. Her message centered on building a life that holds what matters, rather than one that simply looks good on paper.
The event closed with Kenni Richelle Coaching, who delivered a powerful and relatable message about boundaries, self-worth, and intentional living. She reminded attendees that while everyone carries their own experiences and challenges, grace for ourselves does not mean abandoning our boundaries. Kenni encouraged women to make small, consistent choices, in how they spend their time, who they invest in, and the way they speak to themselves, so they can step more confidently into the woman they are choosing to become.
Attendees left feeling encouraged to prioritize with purpose, set healthy boundaries, and take meaningful, consistent steps forward in both their personal and professional lives.
Special thanks to our event partners Templ Wellness, House of Colour, and Heart & Lens Photography, as well as guest speakers Angela Taylor and Kenni Richelle for making this event impactful and memorable. We also extend a special thank you to our own Marketing Manager, Joel Jiménez, who captured every moment of the day.
