Recent incidents in the news have reminded us just how fragile life can be on the job site. One report detailed a serious fall involving a construction worker at the LBJ Hospital site in our own backyard. 1 Another video showed the terrifying moment an electrical worker was struck by an 18-wheeler while working in a bucket truck in Denham Springs. 2 Our hearts go out to those injured, their families, and their crews—we are wishing them all a full and speedy recovery.

While the circumstances of each case are still unfolding, they highlight something we all know to be true: hazards are real, and they’re always present. It only takes a moment for something to go wrong. Whether it’s working at heights or near active traffic, applying best practices—like setting up proper work zones, using flaggers, and staying vigilant about fall protection—can make a life-saving difference. These aren’t just steps on a checklist; they’re acts of care and responsibility for one another.

At NW Safety, we understand the challenges that workers and companies face in high-risk environments. That’s why we’re here—to support, train, and empower teams to build a stronger safety culture. Safety isn’t just about procedures—it’s about people. And every time we take the time to prepare, to plan, and to protect, we’re showing that our teams matter. That their lives, their health, and their families come first.

As we reflect on these incidents, let it serve as a reminder that safety is an ongoing journey. NW Safety proudly provides tailored safety training, onsite safety professionals, consulting, and inspections to help you create a safer environment for your employees. When your team is well-informed and prepared, the likelihood of an on-the-job incident dramatically decreases—protecting not just your people, but your business as a whole.
